In Assignment 1, we're getting to know our camera and reading the manual. Since I use mine almost daily, I'm pretty familiar with it and how aggravating it can be! I can often be heard saying, "Oh I hate this stupid camera!" I have an HP Photosmart M425.
I've been dreaming of a new camera for a while now. My dream camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, price tag - approx. $899+. Yeah, that's why I'm still dreaming about it! Priorities & all...
Now, the first assignment, other than read that boring manual, was to
make it your priority to get out and take the best picture you can for your
first assignment
So here goes...
This is a picture my children, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Nikowa, now that Canon has released the XSi, you can get the XTi discounted pretty much anywhere that they still have 'em on the shelf. The upgraded XSi is a 12MP dSLR (versus the XTi's 10MP), and it offers liveview through a larger LCD. But I recommend looking for a deal on the XTi... you'll be so happy with it that you won't be able to imagine the XSi being any better. I got my XTi in October for $569+tax, with the 18-55mm kit lens, and I am sure they can be had for less by now if you shop around! Mind you, I understand that that price might still be out of your budget, but it's a lot better than the original retail price.

I'm with you on the dreaming of a new camera. I have an HP photosmart R717. It doesn't take very good photos up close. I want to take lots of macro photos of plants, insects, birds, my kids... I am constantly frustrated. I enjoyed the photo you took. Nice flag!
